Bottom fishing rod

I bought a penn torque spinning reel and I am looking for the best rod for bottom fishing for grouper, triggers, etc. What do you guys recommend?

Star Paraflex jigging rods are awesome for this purpose. Light, super strong, great warranty

I have the 5’9" XXH Paraflex that I don’t need anymore. If you’re interested, shoot me a PM.

After putting that kind of money into a reel I wouldn’t short yourself with anything but a custom jigging rod. Consider Black hole or synit. I know I wouldn’t buy a 700$ reel then a 150$ rod. Like buying a Ferrari and putting on 80$ tires.

Good rods for the money.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Star rods are most definitely good rods for the money and they have a great track record but I tend to favor the thought process of FishingDuo.

Whether it’s my freshwater gear or my saltwater gear, I buy the absolute best gear I can afford. I don’t have any custom saltwater sticks but I do have some custom freshwater ALX rods and I’m here to tell you, when you pick one of those up versus and “off the rack” rod, you can immediately tell the difference. I even have some “off the rack” ALX rods, and they’re VERY nice rods, but even they don’t feel like the custom ALX rods I have.

ive put a whole lot of fish in the boat with a good ol fashioned shimano trevalla. suits my budget and my fishing. grouper don’t seem to mind…

I would say a Penn torque but they don’t make them anymore. I believe the Penn Bluewater Carnage Jigging Rod is their replacement. If that rod is as good as the torque you won’t be disappointed.

I’m a fan of the ugly stick tiger jigging rods. I wouldn’t waste my money on a custom when a 70 dollar tiger jig rod will do it all. That’s just me though…

Anyone spending the money on a Penn Torque spinning reel probably doesn’t see spending the money on a custom rod as a “waste” of money.

I’ve got one of those that Itzsid gave me and that’s a dang good rod for grouper or most anything else. It is light, tough as all get out and will put the fish in the boat.

They’re my favorite. I’m going to pick up 2 more for the avets I just ordered once they get here.
