This may be asking to much. We are going to Little River area this weekend to fish. Wanted to know of some live bottom areas to bottom fish. I have some spots off my chart but don’t know if they are any good. We typically fish out Charleston and have never fished this far north. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Little River nearshore reef (Jim Caudle) or Gen Sherman wreck. Jim Caudle is biggger and may be easier to find productive spots.
Where is a safe boat landing? We are staying on the canals at Hog Inlet. And bait shops? I am also tring to find the TOP Spot map # N-238. It is to late to order one offline. Did not know I was going till yesterday
You can put in at the ramp under the hwy 17 bridge.Coming from cherry grove you will pass Platts, they have tackle and bait and then there’s Johnnys Bait and tackle right at the road going to the ramp.Johnnys has pro finder charts ,they’re good #'s.Might want to hit the 390’s and Christinas, usually hold fish. Both are within 12 miles from the jetty. Some Mahi have been caught at both places recently. Also might want to consider the jungle.Good luck.
Just to add to billymac, I prefer Johnny’s because as dry as Cornwell is, he will give you good advice, and they have a great selection of whatever you need to fish. Also usually keep good bait like cigar minnows. Up here, I would avise you to try to jig up some out at the 10 mile reef. Usually, you can get some good cigar minnows there. I don’t know what you want to catch, but try the Atlantic Ledge if you want some good stuff like groupas in a nearer place. It is about 30 miles out. The other spots mentioned will produce BSB’s. Good luck and be safe man. I’m heading to bulls bay tomorrow to wear out the reds and maybe a poon. Have a great trip.
I greatly appreciate all of the advice and I will put it to use. I have some guy’s coming down, and they want to shoot some fish with the bow. It is going to be a hoot. We are going to bottom fish mostly and probably not run out no more than 40 miles. If we pick up any dolphin then that will be fine too. Want to catch some group and sea bass.(if there are any left)Thanks.
You might want to listen to goozeman and hit the atlantic ledge,if it’s a no go there I’ve heard some good reports from the long bay terrace area for grouper,it’s about ten miles further out. It’s a big area so you would have to do some looking.
