Three of us fished live bottom today after a very bumpy ride out. Not but two feet, but the interval was close. We started at 80 ft., and found the usual assortment, but I think the first two in the boat were red snapper. Went on to catch about 5 more.
I had a box of cigar minnows and a box of squid, but we did not open either. Virtually every fish caught today was on artificial baits. Most were fooled by an unusual jig made by a friend, and the fish were noticeably larger.
We could not avoid the storms. No lightning, but the wind blew, and we got soaked. We did not see another fishing boat.
It was a good trip, but one of us is 71, and another will be 81 tomorrow. Trout fishing is looking better all the time.
Nice one! Look forward to the day I can get out there on a Tuesday. You’ll have to keep going for me for the time being
