I bought a pungo 140 and the basic fishing package today. I am right handed, and tend to drill holes in things before I think… I am guessing the paddle stays should be on the left? (2-3ft apart) , the “scotty” rod holder, in front and slightly to the left, and anchor pivot 3-4 ft. behind my butt. Any simple advise is appreciated.
I’m going out tomorrow rain or shine! Hopefully I will think before I drill this time.
CUT MULLET,
IF YOU GET A CHANCE GO BY BLACKWATER ADVENTURES, IN PINOPOLIS. I BOUGHT A FANCY SEAT. IN THE BACK YOU COULD STORE A COUPLE OF TUPPERWARE CONTAINERS FOR TACKLE PLUS 2 “ROCKET LAUNCHER ROD HOLDERS” THAT KEEPS MY REELS HIGH AND DRY WHILE I’M PADDLING. THE SEAT HAS EXTRA PADDING AND SUPPORT. THAT SEAT MAKES LIFE ALOT BETTER FOR ME DUE TO THE LACK OF SPACE. MY KAYAK IS AN ULTRA SKINNY NECKE. NOT THE MOST STABLE AND NO SPACE. THE STABILITY AND SPACE I LOOSE ALLOWS ME TO GAIN IN AREA’S LIKE PADDLING 3 MILES UPSTREAM ON THE EDISTO RIVER. MY FRIEND HAS A LARGER AND MORE STABLE YAK, HOWEVER, IT WOULD ABOUT WHIP YOU TO PADDLE 300 YARDS UPSTREAM.
WE’VE HAD FUN WITH OURS. THE FISH WILL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE! THEY WILL LET YOU GET UPCLOSE!
HAVE FUN AND CHECK OUT THAT CADILLAC SEAT.

I’m not going to look at the seat, cause I know I will want one. I got this fancy looking seat now (phase 3 somthin…somthing)… seems to work okay and spent a thousand bucks, 2 weeks on the whole kayak outfit, so gotta put the checkbook down for a while. But, you did give me an idea about hooking up a couple peices of pvc to the back of my seat.
I’m gonna try flag creek, probably Sunday, probably more beer than fish…Is it legal to be drunk and paddle?? hmm… now there’s a question for someone smarter than me.
I tried Ashley river and Folly creek last week with no bites, but heard of some spottail up the cooper. Any one want to meet up?
Hey There Mullet,
Asked a cop about drinking and riding a bike once. He said, " Only if your drinking and under power of something other than that of yourself can you be charged with a DUI" So, you could be charged with “public drunkeness” at most. He did say you could get a DUI while riding a horse, since the horse is not under your power! hehe
Tight Lines and enjoy a “beerbuzz” as often as possible!
Pongo 140 is a great boat! Way to GO!!
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you’ll be a mile from them, and you’ll have their shoes.
