BOYS AND SHARKS - UDC - 5/31/17

Mark brought his sons fishing. The boys really wanted to catch Sharks. We boated 3 and a few Whiting. All in all a good day for them.

Nice! Great to get the kiddos on the sharpnose! You been seeing a lot of em or just a few? I like to make a couple trips to the harbor to catch those guys. Fun fish, pull like a truck!

Guns kill people just like spoons made Rosie O’donell fat.

We’ve been catching plenty. We released 3.

I took a coworker and his family that came in on vacation out fishing on Saturday. Went out to the grillage and got hooked up on the sharpnose right off the bat. Within 20 mins of anchoring, we had 4 on at one time (out of 6 rods in the water). I think we caught 10 total, plus lost 2 that I would imagine were probably the same. All in the 36-42" range.

Did you catch anything else while there? Or just sharks?

We caught Whiting also.

That’s all we caught. Honestly, the lines weren’t in the water long enough for anything else to give it a chance. 12 or so in a little over 2 hours. Within 5 mins of casting, we’d usually have one on. I fish all the time, so was a little frustrated with bringing up the same thing over and over, but the others on my boat had never fished in Charleston (pretty sure they’d never even fished saltwater) so they were all ecstatic. That’s really all I wanted - just them to have a good time, so overall it was a great day.

Thanks for the reply. Your feelings are basically exactly mine. I’d rather catch a variety of things, but often have out of town friends that love shark-shark-shark-shark just as much.

the annual couple sharpnose trips are always fun. Sometimes you can cath em like bream on a farm pond!
