I tried to post pictures but couldn’t from my phone…idk why… but yeah if we catch them like we did today in the morning … I’ll be calling in sick Monday…lol
I also tried to upload pictures from my phone but couldn’t.
Took my 17 year old son for his first real shrimping trip Saturday. He started out getting frustrated throwing the net but finnally got the hang of it. It didn’t take long for him to get the hang of running the boat. We wern’t finnished yet and he was already wanting to come back next weekend. We shrimped the incoming tide and ended up with just over 3/4 of a cooler in 8 passes. I think he’s hooked.

Took my brother with me this morning. We left Oburg at 5am and about 20 minutes down the road I realized that I had forgot my poles. Turned around and went back to the house and finally got down to the ramp by about 8.
Set up poles and baited test pole. Game on! Finished baiting the rest of the poles and gave them a quick soak. The first run was great. We had 30-40 good sized shrimp on each pole with some HUGE ones mixed in. Started on the next pass… nothing. We ran them three more times while waiting about 10min between each pass and caught maybe 3 shrimp. I noticed that the water got clear from the incoming tide and when it did they stopped completely.
I believe if my dumb self wouldn’t have forgotten the poles we would have coolered out or come pretty close to it. Oh well, that’s life!

Tigerfin - I see you are from orangeburg. I also am from o’burg. I see you and Coast time both have had good luck at St. Helena. We were also there Sat. a.m. and caught part of the rising tide. Shrimp were on about 5 of our poles until the tide stopped then they vanished. Waited for the tide to start moving out but shrimp never returned. Were you out into the sound or on one of the mud flats? Just want general area as we have been to the same area on all of our trips. We are planning on making one more trip this weekend to catch the rising tide and probably will be our last for the season.
Repairman, I sent you a PM.

Just checked weather for the weekend and it does not look good. winds WNW at 20 to 30 MPH. If that holds it will be a no go for us.
Yeah, that sucks. I need at least one more good trip to wrap up the season. Hopefully they’ll cooperate with the weather and my schedule.
