I’m looking for suggestions before re-spooling, and heading back down to IOP. Mainly pier, and surf fishing. Thanks in advance, Scott
I am not the end all, know all expert…but what I’ve noticed is that braid casts further, has better feel and tangles are a biatch to untangle.
Mono is less expensive and is easier to untangle.

Braid is stronger, smaller, and has less memory. I also prefer the way it casts. If the cost is an issue you can backfil mono under your braid. Just my .02

I love braid. There has been times when fish have had me wrapped around pilings and just kept on pulling til they came out. Great for fishing around structure or sharks and long casting. May be more expensive but you get your moneys worth. Just make sure to carry around a sharp knife to cut off baits or tangled lines.
I love braided line also for the reasons listed above. I still have some reels with mono but gradually switch them over.

The only rods I own that dont have braid are for trolling. Went back to mono on a 6500 BR for a balloon rod for poons and havnt even poon fished for them yet and its getting PP on it. To many twist for me. It may cost more but it last for more than 1 season. Also, you can spool it off one reel on to another when it gets low on the spool. Take it off 1, fill with appropriate amount of mono then reel it from 1 to the other. Its almost like putting brand new braid on. Ive been fishing the same PP for three seasons now with no issues.
What do you think about the fused braid line? It cost close the same as braid.
Mono for trolling and braid with floro leader for almost everything else. Power Pro used to be my favorite but I’m really liking the Sufix lately (when I get a chance to fish).

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Thanks, for the info guy’s. I think i’ll take your advice, and go with the braid. Like tprice noted, I can buy 1500 yds. of 30#, for less than $60.00, on ebay. The name is DACRON, I think? Anyone familiar with this braid? Thanks again!! Scott
