Braided fishing line.

What do yall think is the best braid on the market and why

I’ve got spiderwire, power pro and memoi diamond on 3 different reels and they all work as avertised.

I love PowerPro but I don’t recommend the Slick version

I fell in love with the new Nanofil from Berkley. It’s not the cheapest option but the casting distance is incredible.

Power pro. I use 10 lb, 2 lb equivalent because I like lighter action rods and a good, challenging fight. I get a wind knot about every hour or two using the light stuff on a spinning reel, but I can tie knots pretty fast and get right back in the water. I tried the Shakespeare cheapo line from Walmart, and I didn’t like the results.
I don’t know if Power pro is the “best”. I don’t make a living catching fish, so it works for me.

I like suffix 832 just switched from fins to it. The suffix is great durable and cast good. I tried nano fil and it cast great but I lost way too many fish on it. If your line will touch anything while fighting a fish, don’t get nano fil.

Spiderwire has always worked well for me.

If that’s all I have to worry about…there’s nothing to worry about.

I too predominantly fish the nanofil 12 lb. The castability really is amazing- adds a ton of distance. I will say that ive found the reports of poor abrasion resistance to be largely true. On the whole, however, i have caught WAY more fish with that extra distance than i have lost due to break-offs. Looks like they’re now making it in >12 lb varieties too.

I usually buy Spiderwire fusion (if they even still make it) for bottom-fishing (catfish or saltwater) because it’s cheaper and still quite tough.

For casting lures and such, I still prefer mono but Power Pro, standard, is really great stuff.

I fish pretty much everyday. For casting soft plastic lures (which I do 90% of the time), my reels are spooled with 10/2 PowerPro (NOT the slick version). I use mono as the backing and top shot with braid. This helps keep re-spool cost down.

I like the Suffix 832. As said before a good compromise of castability and abrasion resistance.

Correction:
I said yesterday that I had bad results with some Shakespeare braid, but it was actually ZEBCO cheapo braid that had bad results with. It’s called Omniflex, I think. I apologize for any confusion. I don’t know if Shakespeare even makes a braided line.

It is going to be opinion I love PowerPro but I haven’t tried any others, also as to Optikers comment about not liking he slick, and I love the stuff so you may have to get out and try a few different ones.

Power Pro from Walmart. Works well and is well priced

I’m with Hurricane on the power pro slick, I love it. I have the 20lb of both on identical setups and there isn’t much comparison. The one with the slick casts a eighth ounce jig head 20 yds further and every thing else is the same.

daiwa samurai braid! it is on the high side $$$$ but it is super slick and lasts lots longer than most other braids i have tried and doesnt fray like power pro when it gets old.

I tried the slick but got wind knots every 10 or so casts. Maybe the way I cast but I haven’t had that problem with any other braid.
