BRAINSTORM 4.5.09

Took the youngsters out to load up on the hot bite. Not to be. We found some bait to fish but it must have been a school of poisinous lionfish. Only the hardy critters were chewing. Captured an AJ and a walterboro wahoo. Then caught an exotic, thought I was in the gulf. It was a rainbow runner. Forgot that they are decent table fare and let him swim away after a few photos. That along with the AJ, was my nephew’s first offshore fish. Didn’t want to spoil him with the tunas. The bite was slow so we decided to head in early and show the kids some sharks and other bottom dwellers. They had a blast with the sharks. Caught a tasty scamp and another exotic keeper genuine american red snapper along with the usual suspects. Also found a school of lizard fish. Captured about ten in a row on the jig. Oh well. Sounds like the tuna bite picked up a bit in the afternoon.
