BRAINSTORM 5.2.09

Fished in the low 300s on a great bite. The trip started with a bang when I got called in for work and finished up just in time to meet the guys at the boat. Rode the trough and made it to 300’ to discover a beautiful blue/green color change. It was loaded with gaffers. Nonstop action until 11am when we had filled the boxes to capacity with 53. Tried to free gaff a few fish, but couldn’t connect. The 3 Turk brothers and Quill Sr were on the rod constantly. Joe and Theo gaffed fish rapid fire. We were all worn out, but decided to try and pull lures for a few minutes. Couldn’t keep the dolphins off them. Saw a 500-600lb hammerhead. Then we decided to high speed home until we crossed the ledge. Caught a wahoo and another dolphin.

That boat’s gonna need some serious de-sliming!!! At least you made it back to the dock early–I’m sure you were still cleaning fish into the wee hours of the morning. Congratulations on an incredible day.

Good to see you Ben. Sorry I had to run out to take a call. We cut most of the fish we caught last week to be served at our buddy’s upcoming wedding. He called in the reinforcements and we made quick work of the pile.
