A great day on the ocean, but fishing was slow today. Got a late start and took DAD and 7 good buddies. Cleared the rocks just after 9am. Caught all adult fish, even some adult false blackfins. I’ll add color later, but ended the day with a good wahoo, 6 blackfish, 7 maui wowies. bruiser decided to let one 35lb maui live another day. i’m sure the fish appreciated all that. also caught a trophy blacktip. frtiz would be proud. had a 20lb cow eat a blue marlin. who woulda thunk… fished the 300s to triple zeros. 150 to 1300ft. bites were hard find.
other interesting tidbits from today’s adventure… saw 2 turtle’s doing the nasty or in a cage match to the death… not exactly sure which one. wouldn’t want to get between them either way. the cajun commander gaffed, released, and gaffed a maui; so i guess that makes up for the one bruiser sent swimming to freedom… 1 jumping out of the box means that we are improving. all the blackfish were grown. 30lbs or over. one might have broken the old state record, but he will be oh so tasty instead. the cajun cut all of them immediately, and in honor of his heritage, ate a tuna heart. the man just isn’t right. coonass hollering and heart eating. not exactly sure what to think. the tuna preferred the jimmies over the fakies. theeeepirate caught a whitish marlin way to the south. he is on fire. someone “borrowed” one of my gigantic igloos that i left on the dock. that thing was a family heirloom. hopefully it will be returned early tomorrow morning. no harm no foul if so.
highlight of the day were the 5 trays of country ham biscuits that captain america lucas prepared on the water. they were oh so tasty. as were the pimento cheese burgers. life is good.
Nice work Daniel! You could open up your own sushi bar with your skills this month. Glad you found the fish despite the late start. What time did it pick up for you?
Too bad about the cooler, been a rough start to your life at Tolers.
Looking forward to an overnighter, sounds like somene went 1 for 2 on swords last week. Maybe next weekend.
springtide… good advice. she was waiting for me right there. glad to see that things are walking away at our fine deep water marina.
fisheyeye - i heard the same report and another one as well. good to know. we picked at them all day. never found any concentration of fish. very little bait as well.
I’d call that a successful trip…the way you sounded on the phone yesterday morning, y’all maybe had a peanut and a couple of cudas to show for your work.
“Never argue with an idiot…he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”
Greg is always something to watch out there. Fresh heart of blackfin, mmm. Another great day. Your dad is a trooper. I hope the fish are biting right now for you. This desk job has gotta go.
when fishing with D there’s always something else to it… The fish are getting smart and know how to escape these days. Must be the Lucas or Bruiser Pimento cheese that keep them out of the box. Another good day D, we’ll keep the secrets safe, but lets go get a broadbill or two.

23sailingfish - the key is to put them in the boat and keep them there. it can be hard to do…
we needed tips and arbitrage out there today. alex looked at me and we shared a good laugh when we realized how spoiled we are to fish with such wily fisherman. they tricked us more than we tricked them today.
23 - the pimento is not the only key. we tried pulling some out today, but w/o captain america lucas all hope is lost. bruiser is a good stand-by, though.
