BRAINSTORM 5/26

Nice day with the family on the water. Took DAD, 2 of my nephews, my boat partner’s 7yo daughter, my brother-in-law, schoolboy, and sarah. left at 5:40 or so to let the ocean lay down a bit, but it was still a little sporty on the way out. alex recounted saw epic stories from the morris island festivities… we shared those stories w/ the Perserverance and i think it put them in the right mindset… then alex remembered all of the fun he had for the first 3 hours or so of fishing and helped keep the fish behind the boat so to speak. i got to get my hands dirty for the first time in a while. it was a lot of fun. everybody got on the rod. little haley, the 7yo, worked a nice bull with style. she put on a show while my nephews were nursing their wounds.

had a 4 banger right off the rip. it was a show stopper with a fine creel of hee-ha’s on the line. added one more, then a mercury missle and even a spotted wahoo to the mix. topped off the box with 13 mauis for color. most of them were decent, no full grown fish though. fished in the 550s in 200’. fished with purpose one and a few other good folks over a few nice rips. not a lot bait, basically no grass, gradual temp changes, and overall not a lot of action, but we had a lot of fun. i don’t think i have laughed so hard in a while. schoolboy is the man. he had a lot to deal with and the hee-ha’s almost pushed him over the edge. we also missed a sailing fish. congratulations to the perserverance who had 3 blue marlins pull drag. that is quite a feat.
