Got on the mauis pretty good today. Had a nice trip w/ DAD, my nephew, Wat, Captain America Lucas, and Thizzle. We were just about the only ones to take a left out of the rocks. Fished from the 080 to the 170. Caught most of the fish just offshore of the ledge. Water was just under 75 degrees. Marked very little bait, but there were a decent number of fliers. They didn’t want the jimmies today… not a single bite in the first four hours, so we took them off and saved them for another day.
Ended up with 23 keeper maverickos, all but 3 of which were good sized flippers. also caught 2 solid wahoo and a trophy bronze fin. Lost two other nice wahoos as well. One of them split the head of an ilander, gave a good surface head shake and pulled the hook. Never seen a split ilander before. One of the wahoos that found the box had cut one of you guys off before. Nice stainless hook with a pin rig. Thanks for that. Only saw one other boat all day. Nice fishing out there by ourselves. Good luck to the boats fishing Georgetown tomorrow. Should be nice.

Sounds like you found my wahoo. Yea, he snatched one of my rigs last time. Just fillet him up and mail him this way. I will take it from there.
Nice day! 23? Wow, wonder why they did not bite like that last week? I am going to blame it on the moon only possible explanation.
Congrats on the day. Can’t wait to get back out again!

Thats a good day right there. Nice to ride home with a fishbox full of meat. Still waiting to hear about the first billfriend…
What I want to know is what kind of work you are in…fishing every day you like…
Early retirement??

Fine job there captain. I think its about time to take back up the night trawling from the conversation I had earlier with B-Nasty. I’m free for the summer, ready when you are…

Wola - its been nice being able to get out a good bit when weather has allowed this year. This was our 10th trip in the new bote… so I am very fortunate that I have a job that is condusive to fishing a little bit. I haven’t taken a full week off in about 5 years, but I have taken several individual days off to get out on the ocean. The flip side is that when I’m working, I’m generally travelling. I’ve logged about 45,000 miles in the air and about 25,000 miles on the ground in 2008.

Let me know when you’re going to put on a “conference” there in C-ton, and invite certain users of the device to mix in a lil fishing with some business. I need another excuse to get back down there!!

i think D travels more than that circus, but it is nice to be able to both work and play hard… that’s what it’s all about. I couldn’t believe the jimmiies didn’t pay their way, but the newbies seemed to work fine. Missed ya out there tips, but the cockpit wasn’t as slick without all that dew dep flying around. I miss the stickfish… let’s go surprise one at night

MT - i just scheduled the “conference” - Jonas is planning on coming later in June - you should hitch a ride with him and we will sneak out there for a day.
Thizzle - I guess that’s why the fish have been jumping out of the box… tips had it all lubed up… no Tips, no jumping out of box… hmmm.
I just put together that new Skittles rig. Let’s hope your billfriends find the end of the rainbow.
