BRAINSTORM 5/7

Today was a great day on the water. The day actually started late last night when a new friend picked up the Carla Dee and hitched her up to his truck and headed out of the driveway. Wow, that was strange. It will be great to see what she looks like fishing with the fleet. I’m sure Pat will fill the box many a day this season.

This morning we had the privilege of my mom and dad joining us for a good day of fishing. We had a full boat with 9 of us on board. Started in the 430s on the ledge. Lost a plug to a wahoo on the planer and that was it early. Picked up and headed out to the DEEP. Not much doing there in 1800’ either. Picked up again and ran inshore. Had fun with a handful of maverickos on light tackle but not much to it. Late in the day the great Blue Marlin Ben of Jabez fame put us on the maverickos fo real. Thanks for sharing your water BMB… too bad that you lost your Blue Marlin, but at least you put on a show for the Aggressor. Had a lot fun pitching baits and catching several nice fish at a time. My mom got in on the action and put the hurt to a nice grown mavericko like a spring chicken.

Fish seemed to favor the nekked balahoos the best. Several times I watched them charge up on a sea witch and then fade off to a nekked one. Had several nice teaser bites, including a nice blue marlin on a teaser bite that got eaten by a 15lb cow after she was on the hook. Amazing how that can happen. Had a great crew that put a hook in about every fish I drove over. Caught the fish in 71 to 73 degree water. Only caught one in water warmer than 73.2977777.

Ended the day with 25 keeper maverickos. Looks like the weather will keep us at the dock for a while.

That’s a fine day,Daniel. We had your old dove club buddy,Joe W,on board, yesterday. He didn’t do too bad for a Gamecock.:smiley:Thanks for the shout in the pm about the gaffer bite turning back on,but we were in 250ft by then fishing for missiles. No luck except a 30# cow that crashed a flat line.I am glad you are taking folks that wouldn’t normaly get to go.See you at the dock.

CD,
It twas a good trip. I think the best part was the ladies on the boat all hooked up and your mom putting it to the fish on the spinner. The bites were pretty fun when we got to see them come up and eat the baits. Great crew, good times, nice driving by both Capts-- the new boat is earning its keep.

Daniel, how about quit catching so many ■■■■ dolphin. You are making us look bad. Pretty soon my guys are going to say, “Sorry J, can’t go with you this time, I’m fishing on the BRAINSTORM”. You can bet I will be sending you the gas bill when that happens!

HMMMM…You going again wednesday???

just kidding Jason.

NMFS = No More Fishing Season

Eddie - glad to help out w/ the call anytime. I don’t blame you for not wanting to run back into 12 miles in a 4’ head sea either. I was getting sporty out there.

schoolboy - good fun out there. my mom didn’t stop talking about how much fun she had and how great everyone was to fish with. thanks for everything. she really loved you and striker tips. and my dad - he will be all smiles for a week b/c of that trip.

jj - i am just trying to keep up with you. its not easy to find time to catch the fish with all of the good stuff to listen to on the radio.

sells - i knew you were kidding - i hardly even get a call back anymore!

btw - mike collins from lowcountry diesel has my stbd engine apart right now, so no fishing for the wknd. if any of you need diesel work, he is the man. 843.412.9117. i have never worked with a more responsive mechanic, just don’t call him until we get everything put back together - i don’t want any interuptions!

BRAINSTORM

CD - was on the dock Friday after the rain and saw some action at the Brainstorm and headed your way to say hey. Saw you were busy in the engine room so I decided to wait until another day. We had a good day on the Fishn’ Mission Wednesday and Capt. Eddie always keeps us entertained. The Brainstorm looks good on the water. I would have taken a picture for you but we were a little busy right then. Keep the reports coming.
