BRAINSTORM 7.22.09

Fished in the rain in the 4s and 5s. Sure am glad that I always RainX my Costas, but still considered swapping them out for a mask at one point. Lots of sail fish bites when it wasn’t raining. Ended up catching 4 and having many more come unglued. At least 11 shots and raised several more. A few cutoffs as well. Captured 2 skipjacks and a 23lb blackfinned tunafish. Thanks to the Fishwrapper who loaned us oil as we had sprung a mess of leak. Cap Benjamin of Jabez fame was on fire. He sure is a good fisher. Hope that they are still around when I get back from a week and half of travels.

BRAINSTORM

It must be nice to get to fish everyday. I want to be just like you when I grow up! Nice work again on the box full of sailfish!

greenstick, i need you to stop messing alround with the bottom fishes this time of year and come use that wingspan to hook some more jumpers with us.

Fair enough, but they made me do it…

i hear ya. i just checked the log and 26 total trips this year. including only 4 bottom fishing adventures. you need to work on your ratio.

Greenstick,
We could have used your"luck" yesterday. Couldn’t keep them tight. Had some more National Geographic action in the AM no luck with the ultralight.

Daniel…I gotta ask…you work for a livin’? If you do, then I gotta find a job like that…

“Never argue with an idiot…he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”

Sounds like a fun day.

Did anybody mess with the Kickin’ Jimmies this trip?

sounds like a good day
From reading the report looks like it was a malt storm as well

You da man D. Very nice numbers you’ve been getting. Me and the boy are up in Maine wrecking the smallmouth. We’re going giant fishing tomorrow and Sunday if the weather holds. Hopefully, we’ll get the boy his first giant. If you’re up this way the next week give me a jingle, we got room and could use some of your skilz and luck.

D Pretty work!!! Had One nice blue(tld) and 2 sails for the day saw another on the mackerel but would not commit. Going to get to them in the AM… Tied for 2nd with the Big O Third overall in the Boatbuilders Tourn. Onlt 20 boats fishing this year. Must be the economy. Have fun See you soon. DAD

courtney - thanks for the offer. i would jump on it in a moment, but i will be in florida for the week. working unfortunately.

dell - i hope you are reeling on another blue one right now. congrats on your day. biopsea is surely becoming one of the favorites in all of the tournaments. wish i could have made it up for this one. hopefully i can get up there while the bite is hot.

wola - you crack me up! i do have a great job with flexibility, but i think it just seems like i fish more b/c i chronicle all of my adventures on this website. i wish that i would keep a more detailed log, but i’ve put all of my trips on this website since i joined it in 03. it is a valuable resource for me for that purpose. i get the feeling that most folks only put a few of their reports on the board and you get a skewed idea of how much they fish / what they catch / how good the fishing may be for that reason.

greg - the kickin jimmies on the ultralight failed us. we tried hard and i guess we wasted some valuable time with fish all over us messing with the ones we had. i think we need some smaller KJs next time.

sounds like there was some good fishing yesterday with several boats catching 3 and one or two catching 4.

Only saw and released two Whites yesterday. That gave us a 3 fish lead. Hope it holds up. Ronnie Fields, Big O needs three releases along with Dave Graham, on Easy Rider. John Bayliss on Canyon Express needs 4 Tough fishing.
