BRAKE SWAP FROM DRUM TO DISC

Just got done gutting out drum brakes because off it freezing and rusting up ruined trip this morning . decided to run with no brakes on trailer for the short distant i go to landing. But would like to put on disc brakes in the near futher . Has anyone done this before IM going to tackle this summer .I m good at brakes just done with drum brakes.

Haven’t done it but planning to tackle in a couple of months. Here is some good info I’ve found about trailer brakes and they also have good pricing

Eastern Marine and Trailer Parts Depot are also worth looking at and have complete kits for sale. Kodiak is apparantly the way to go with the lower priced Titan being something to consider for a more value priced option. TieDown brakes and saltwater don’t seem mix very well.

depends if you can bolt teh caliper brackets directly to the axle or not.

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

Yea thats what im worried about . trailers only two years old and has torsion axles so maybe ill get lucky if not the welder going to get fired up.

What brand trailer is it. most of the torsion axle trailers have the braket welded on the already. i have a wesco trailer and my buddy ruined my brakes for me by not hookin up the trailer plug to his truck and pushing the trailer backwards against the brakes in 4wd low. so i had to replace everything on my trailer from the coupler all the way back. but other than that. disc is the way to go. better stopping power and wont lock up on you. Check out Lewis Trailers on HWY 49 in gulfport mississippi for the brake kit. i got mine for like 300$ from these guys
