The way Acuna has been lighting up pitchers in the first inning, it should be no surprise something was going to happen. I promise you it was discussed in both club houses.
A brush back with a change up or hook maybe. But 97 mph bullet clearly meant to hit him is total bs. Mattingly was clearly bothered by it. I have no doubt the pitcher did it on his own. His interview was a joke. My opinion the Marlins should have suspended him before MLB
The Braves were in the dugout and out of play. This is Snitkers team. The right thing happened with him coming out first. If a player had gone first, they would have been ejected and possibly suspended. tithe Braves are in a pennett race. …
The pitcher / batter matchup is as intense one on one situation as there is in sport. Only exceeded by boxing. Maybe …
bangstick: I couldn’t agree more, they should have been ready to light that guy up. Ol Snitker shouldn’t be the one leading that charge-
I’m glad I wasn’t the only person able to see through the homer koolaid to notice that.
“…be a man and PM me.”
What do you think they should have done?Run out there with bats and be up on man slaughter charges. It’s one of those things you can’t do anything about, unfortunately. Now if the batter could get out there and do something,he might get off.:imp:
Yep, that’s it. Jump right into theatrics and ridiculousness. Good talk, sman.
With this being premeditated and both clubs hearing the buzz about it possibly happening, yes, I believe the Braves bench should’ve came out and had the rookie’s back. In all of my years watching baseball, I’ve never seen the coach lead the charge during a bench clearing incident. Don’t confuse the coach as the one whose team it is. The leaders in the clubhouse, that’s whose team it is. The coach is simply a manager. Watch the video. When the Braves’ players finally started coming out of the dugout, they looked like my 5 year old when I have to drag him off to bed at his bed time. They were moving like someone doing something they really didn’t want to do. Some players looked like they were afraid to break a nail and o
You’re the one talking theatrics,a big false charge without actually hurting anyone. If you ain’t gonna hurt someone, why run out there? Those pitchers know they have the advantage in that situation.Rook has to learn how to get out the way.If you were one of the guys on the bench, would you risk everything to get even and go up on charges? I tell my boys all the time, there are very few times when you can hurt someone and get away with it,one had to go to jail to learn. That being said, I hope that SOB gets some kinda payback, maybe you should go down there and hit him with your bang stick. They would never suspect you.Hey that’s baseball.

Right, because I’m the one that said to go all Juan Marichal (you’ll probably have to look that up). I’m also the one talking about going out and hurting someone to the point charges are filed. To that point, do you really know what “theatrics” means? Asking for a friend.
Have you ever watched a major league baseball game??? In case you haven’t, to say it’s a rarity to have anyone charge the mound and start swinging a bat would be an understatement. It’s also an exaggeration to say people are brought up on charges when they do charge the mound. In fact, there are far more bench clearing incidents that don’t result in a WWE style brawl than those that do but what those bench clearing situations are an example are of one’s teammates having your back. You don’t have to take my word for it. Watch the video of Acuna getting hit. It’s all over the Interwebs. The Head Coach and First Base Coach were the first ones to come to Acuna’s aid. Then, as every posted video of the incident on the Interwebs shows, the rest of the team took their time, to the point they looked reluctant, coming out of the dugout.
bangstick, maybe you should go to Atlanta and teach/train the braves the proper way to clear the bench and charge the mound. I agree with P-K ,the Braves did the right thing, you’re wrong on this one. Hey,here’s an idea, hire some no talent goons whose only job is to attack opposing pitchers when they bean someone. They run out there and get a few licks in before anyone can stop them.If they get suspended, who cares.
That’s the problem sman, a teammate shouldn’t need to be “trained” or taught how to have his teammate’s back. I do love how you’re still going to extremes and theatrics by using words like “attack.” I also love how you’ve conveniently ignored the part where I mentioned not every bench clearing incident leads to a brawl. That’s why I asked if you’ve ever watched a major league baseball game, but hey, it’s your story and you can tell it anyway you want to. By the way, how’s your “How to avoid a 97mph fastball thrown at your ribs” course coming along? I can’t wait until that one hits the shelves or better yet, YouTube. Hopefully surely you’ll be doing your own stunts in the video, right?
I know, can’t stand to see those guys not run as hard as possible, every time. He definitely wasn’t giving it all he had on the base running, but had an outstanding first appearance on the mound. Rookie mistake.
Heck of a finish for those kids from Peachtree City Ga last night in the little league game, awesome.
that was a great first outing. we are going to need him down the stretch. i noticed no one made any mention of him being thrown out in the interviews. i bet his mom jumped him though.
have watched a little bit of the little league stuff. 13 year olds throwing 90s. go ahead and schedule that tommy john…
Was hoping for some fireworks with the next series against the Marlins.
Why Is Jose Ureña dropping his appeal now?
While Ureña finally accepting his suspension would be considered a win for MLB’s enforcement team, both his decision to appeal and the timing of the enforcement might line up just a little too well for the pitcher to be true. Why? The Marlins just happen to be playing Acuña’s Braves in their next series.
By appealing the suspension, Ureña was able to make another start on Sunday, throwing a complete game against the Nationals, then drop the appeal after the game, manipulating when he would serve his already light punishment.
Gonna have to wait until next year, but I doubt it will be forgotten in the off season.
