Breaching Flounder

I was fishing creek dead low off ashley. mud flat with maybe 1 foot water tons of bait. Twice saw founder come clear out of water. Caught 18 inch flounder on doa shrimp popper. Anyone ever seen a flounder jump?

Yes a few times. Rare but cool site! You can sometimes catch them on topwater when they do that

Have seen them do it on a few flats off the Cooper. They were crushing the shrimpies…

I’ve seen it a couple of times. Water was very shallow and I think flounder was ambushing overhead bait.

I’ve seen it in the Cooper several times, usually when there’s an abundance of bait around. Also seen plenty of rays do this as well. Rays are much more common sight to see.

They used to do this ALL THE TIME in little Frampton’s inlet back in the day when you could almost walk across the inlet on top of the giant flounder that would congregate there. Sure was a sight to see.

Haven’t seen them do that in years now though.

Caught my first flatty on top water last month. Surprised the hell out of me. Thought it was a red at first. Fun stuff

It is a strange thing to see and have only seen it a couple of times. I did have one blow up on a top-water last year very cool.

I saw it once, shallow water as well, a lot of bait as well. I thought it was the flounder getting chased by a larger fish and trying to get away.

I was in Galveston last year and they were hitting mullet like me that. We got them on topwater and on the fly.

10% of the people catch 90% of the fish.

I bet that was wicked catching a flounder on the fly.
