Break away sinker

I’m going to try for a tarpon July 4th weekend and would like a tutorial. I plan on having two baits on top and two on the bottom. For the bottom rigs I’m using 40 lb braid with a swivel attached 80 lb fluro leader. I’d like to attach a break away 8 egg sinker threading a loop of line through the sinker and passing a piece of rubber band through the loop and pull halfway back through the sinker. I dont think the 80 lb leader will pass through the sinker doubled up. I’ve heard of using wire attached to the swivel as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Downrigger. Let line out far as you want and clip to line and let the downrigger down. When the fish hits, you don’t lose any lead.

Copper rigging with one or two twists

I cry a little every time I lose a big sinker. Lead is getting expensive!
