Breaking in the new 5wt

27" and the scale said 7lbs with the net… I’m not buying it… I think it’s more like 6lbs.

This guy jumped 5 times right in front of me, and I had to chase him down the creek a bit when he decided he didn’t like the situation I introduced him to.

I lost another, larger fishwhen he straightened the hook after two jumps.

More to come…

You are well traveled my friend.
Nice fish.

Nice Jeremy. What 5 wt did you go with? Is that a Galvan reel?

To my knowledge that’s a whole lotta brown trout. It sure looked a bit different, maybe it’s some sort of hybrid.

Yep Scotty, NZ.

F&G, that’s a Sage flight paired with a Ross Vexsis. Sweet setup.

That is a fatty brown! Congrats on that fish Jerms… I know how hard you worked for that one. Glad it paid off an with the new flyrod too! I knew that thing was a fish catcher the other day at the house! Be safe out there and get as much fishing in as possible before you go down to the ice. We’ll hold the fort down here for you. Email me if you need anything at all.

What fly did you catch him on?

Thanks man! He was sitting in a little feeding lane and I could see his mouth open from time to time. Partly cloudy skies meant I could only spot him from where I had to cast for short periods at a time. I tried 3 different nymphs before he took the first cast on a #10 pheasant tail. I wish I could explain the power this fish had. I thought he was done 3 different times before he gathered himself and rocketed out of the water with the leader almost to the rodtip. I can’t wait to get after them again. All the good highcountry water opens October 1st…

One of you guys needs to come down here and film these fights…

I’d give some better parts of my anatomy to go there to shoot and fish

I may be wrong but it really looks like a hen atlantic salmon. Is there a lake nearby that it could have come from? Or, it may be a sea run brown if that river connects to the salt downstream. Either way, really cool fish.
