bridles?

Starting to really Looking forward to the upcoming fall/winter/spring. I was introduced to gizzards this past winter and really enjoyed pulling the large to very large baits. Something I am thinking of doing this board season is instead of hooking baits through the nose, hook them up to the hook via a bridle. Much like they do with pogies or goggle eyes. I could see it really adding to the action of the bait…

Anyone ever done this before with gizzards or trout?

Chip we have used both when rigging menhaden for offshore. What i have found is trolling we had better success with hooking up with bigger fish hooking through the nose and running stingers. Using a bridle the only good success was fishing balloons. The bridle isn’t good for trolling…which makes sense. I would keep doing what we did last winter. Seemed to work good. haha. Matching the hook to the bait is more important than anything else.
PS lets fish this weekend.

Also note that the way we did bridles, our little freshwater baits couldn’t handle. Even big shad aren’t nearly as durable as a blue runner or spanish mack, or even some big ole menhadens. but we loved to bridle up blue runners and whatch them freak out on kites and balloons, anyways back to your regular striper programming…

If you’ve had fun catching fish on the transom bait, you are welcome…

I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
