Broad River Access

Are there any good canoe/small boat launches on the Broad River right below Parr Reservoir?

Harbison State Forest has a ramp better suited for canoes and kayaks but that’s well downstream from Parr. I’m not aware of any public ramps between there and Parr. Public access has always been an issue on the Broad River.

God bless the “ignore” function.

There are a couple on either side of the river off 213 outside of Peak. On the Peak side just before bridge there is a turnoff to the left. There is a small parking area under the bridge and a steep sand bank leading to river. Be careful coming out as traffic is hard to see and they are flying. On the other side of the river look for a Palmetto Trail sign on the right, this road will take you to the trailhead. Follow to RR trestle and you’ll see the put in.

To add just a little more to Riverman’s post, you can work your way upstream to the Dam, but it is a hard paddle on the main channel side and an in & out drag up the side channel side. It is worth the effort though. Few people make the effort. No yahoos, no litter, and no jet skis.

Good time to pull up Google earth and get a birds eye view! Best think since sliced bread!
