Hey guys, I broke my little toe about three weeks ago. Usually, when I stump my toe and claim I broke it, it is really not broken and a few days later it is fine. Well, this time I think I really did it. It has been very swollen for three weeks now and still hurts pretty dang bad. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to go get it checked out but I did not think there was too much that could be done for it. Is that true? It is not black and blue anymore but it is still swollen and painful.I did it in the night getting up to use the bathroom. Then again two days later on a boat cleat. I just dont want to get off work,go to the doc and find out there is nothing that can be done. Anyone out there got any advice? Thanks guys.

Thanks easy. I have been doing most of that stuff but with my job I cant really rest it. I am on my feet 10 to 13 hr every day but Sunday, which is my fishing day. Guess I need to go to the doctor. I have quite a few of the “when to call a doctor” symptoms. Darn.

Been there done that. Kicked a brown paper bag on the kitchen floor when I was a kid. I was bare footed and the bag was full of the big cans of Hawaiian Punch. Broke 4 toes! Taught me to wear shoes if I was going to be kicking ANYTHING LOL
I’ve broke a few toes and have gotten by just taping the bad toe to a good one, and trying not to kick/stub it on anything else.
The worse one was when I was trying to help a barmaid out:stuck_out_tongue:, and get a keg out of the cooler for her. I was in flip flops and had to pick the keg up over a couple of others. I lost my grip and the keg came down, at an angle, right on my big toe. The doc said that with a little more weight, it would have pinched my toe right off.
It still doesn’t bent right.

I’m an ER nurse and have broken many toes (as wells amputating a finger in a bandsaw). Happy Bob’s suggestion is the primary treatment for this injury. Good luck and don’t do it again.
The worst is when you float the edisto with a broken toe, and continually bang it into submerged stumps/rocks!
I bet their was a few choice words said on the boat when you hit that cleat!
