Went out on a friends brand new flats boat Saturday
I hooked into the largest red fish of the day and the hook broke
I was mad I thought I pulled or broke one of my knots BUT
Has anyone had this happen before?

I believe I’ve only had bream hooks break on me whey a largemouth cam up for a cricket or the bream on the hook.
Sounds like you need bigger hooks. What size?

The hook is corroded around the eye. May have been an older hook. I have sheared quite a few Gamakatsu hooks.
I had that happen a few times with the Flutter hooks. Always broke near or on the bend. Switched to Gamakatsu and haven’t had any issues.
