Wow!!! That is all I can say about this river! I was one of the most pretty places I have fished in a long time. There was an article in Eastern Flyfishing magazine this summer that had an article on the Savage river. It is expert flyfishing water…every fish in the water is either a native brookie or brown. I went out with my brother-in-law who knew the area well. We started at 730am temp about 45deg. We fished until 230. It was slow early but the fish started to show themselves around 11. I had a couple of huge browns rise on some flys but they didn’t take. End of the day 4 brookies and man were they pretty. 3 were under 10" this one was 14". If you ever get a chance to go out here you should! I might play hookie from work tomorrow and try to get 1 more day in up there.
Awesome trout. Perfect colors! They are some of my fav.s. those browns should be about to spawn-or headed up. Here’s to being too “sick” to make it to work! cheers
