Brought my old spooks back to life!

Thanks to a little help from Courtland I was able to make a couple of my dad’s zara spooks come back from the dead. I used these spooks 25 years ago when I was a 4 year old kid in Tampa for trout, jacks, reds, and whatever else. I especially remember loving the “rainbow trout” lure as I called it.

A little rough probably for my first try for the jigskinz but I think they will catch fish. I’ll find out soon

I can’t wait to show my dad. Better yet, I can’t wait for my dad to fish them… I think these spooks are older than me lol!

Sweeeet! Hope my boy is putting a Jigskinz on one of my plugs one day, too.

That’s awesome!

Looks legit. Will it hold up?

I want to catch them all

One thing is for sure… Those jigskinz look TIGHT!!!

I’ve used them on a few offshore plugs and jigs already. Yes, they hold up, but of course nothing lasts forever. Toothier fish can damage them, but it takes some time. That plug, for trout, will last a long time. That what makes them so cool is that you can keep a 25yr old “lucky” plug looking new forever for a dollar or so.

Cool looking product. Is it a heat shrink type of material? How do you apply it? Thanks.

I have used these once or twice.

Make the hole for the belly hardware VERY small, or… On a spook I will shrink it with no hole, then poke a small hole in the skin right where the hardware wants to come through with a hook point. Then re-dunk in hot water. Sometimes you may need to push the hardware through the tiny hole before re-dunking.

Keep in mind, on a curve lure the length is in fact longer than the length…think about it, it will make sense in a second. Leave the skin a bit long and then just run an exacto on the end to trim.

Oh my!

Well that’s just slicker than eel snot!

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Courtland,
Awesome product. I see you sell them online but do you have any local shops selling them? I’d love to go pick up a few of them this week and tinker around with some old Rapala magnums. That prototype looks really good!

The short answer is no, they are not available locally other than from me.

There are some big goings on for me in the next few months. I have over 20 prototypes in the works right now as well as a few side projects of interest. Unfortunately I can no longer show my hand as there are already imposters looking for an easy buck.

I am basically re-inventing the product and the systems it can be involved/used in. I will likely not be setting up any local vendors until late 2015/early 2016.

I will be doing a website upgrade over the next 2 months and know for sure that there will be 3 new designs to market within that time as well.

I have a pretty easy web store now that does PayPal or credit cards for those interested. Sometimes I’ve been known to send a few freebies here and there as well…

I can’t wait to see the new ones… I hope there is one that looks like that blue and white fish that everything offshore seems to eat…

Looks awesome, I just ordered a few to try myself!
