went out wid my gal and thee pirate. headed east to abt 150ft. caught just over 20 skamps in an hour keeping only our limit. we also had somethin scream the drag on our top water rod only to see a huge splash behind the boat before it spit the hook. we then headed back inshore for the seabass. ended up wid limits in cbass, grps, and red porgies. also caught some trigs, bliners, and knobbed porgies. thanks also to “cost a lot” and the cuddy cabin boat at the near shore reef!
Nice day.
Glad u got in without any trouble.

from the looks of that leader you showed me, no doubt. we will get a basking beauty one day. our time just hasn’t come…
WTB: 31 Contender
ready for the day it arises from the deep, lil slow with the minnesota pintails tho. hardly even saw any. heard the beautiful baskings really like ol cod balls wrapped with seaweed on a 12 circle hook with no shorter that a 93ft 300lb flouro leader tapered down to a small 12ft section of 150 flouro. dont forget the dual treble hooks for the ultimate experience one must tickle the leader back in forth across the basking beauties dorsal fins in order to make it project 28ft into the air while putting on an most acrobatic showing. wow what a beaut. this is the hard way, the barta way

The last time I dried a Mola I had a full head of hair.
I guess it’s about time to get another.
The Coon Poon will be rigged and ready on Jan 1.
Why on earth would you kill one of them? they are not fit to eat, not a good fight, worthless. what did you do with it?
“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”
It makes for a great picture…and a coonass can cook anything.
Mola Chili:
3lbs Mola Mola fillet, diced
1/2 cup oil
2 cups diced onions
1 cup diced celery
1 cup diced bell pepper
2 tablespoons diced garlic
2 tablespoons diced jalapenos
1-16oz can pinto beans
38oz cans tomato sauce
1 cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
salt and black pepper to taste
In a heavy Dutch oven, heat oil over medium high heat. Add Mola Mola and sauté twenty minutes to render juices. Add onions, celery, bell pepper garlic and jalapenos. Sauté until vegetables are wilted, approximately three to five minutes. Add pinto beans, tomato sauce, and chicken stock, bring to a low boil and reduce to simmer. Add chili powder and cumin, stir well into mixture and allow to cook one hour, stirring occasionally. Once Mola is tender, season to taste using salt and black pepper. Serve over Spaghetti.
no hard feelings…but that makes me sad:frowning_face:
