Hey guys, if you put in at buck hall and want to make it to open ocean water, what route do you take? The path straight out next to White Banks seems too shallow and shifty. Do you have to wind your way all the way to Cape Romain harbor and go out there? Seemed a little shallow out the north end of that point also. Perhaps through Five fathom creek? Surely there’e a reasonable deep water channel with all those shrimp boats going in and out. Thks.
So all the way up the intracoastal and then down five fathom? I way down at the opening to the ocean the other day and it seemed shallow. Are there bouys/markers? Thks.
Don’t know if this helps but I stopped putting in at buck hall unless I am shrimping the bay. Just put in in mclellinville at the town hall. If it’s a weekday then run upstairs and get a pass or at the small country store and get one. It’s only 10 dollars. Then you come out at five fathom. Yes there are markers the whole way out.
You can get a pass on hwy17 at the yellow caution light. It is the nice general store. Not the BP. It is 10 dollars. I go there at least once a month all year long. Or you can get it at the town hall. I will get the number to the store and post it so you can call first if you would like.
It is the shell station aka palmetto store. 843-887-3331just talked with the manager and still sell the 24 hour pass for 10 Dollars. I hope this help on you gas bill and drive time. I will pm you to make sure you get it.
