bucks fighting in January

I have hundreds of pics of bucks fighting in January.
The most interesting is where a young 6 point beat the crap out of a monster 10 point.
10 pt was laying down after fight and the 6 pt came at him while was down. I’ll try to get pics up soon

This pic is after fight

The wife and I were walking the dogs and came across a fresh rub end January. Our deer my still be in rut during January I’ve seen some hold there horns until late March. . Interesting animals.

Trophy sitting down for sure

every 28 days the does that are not pregnant estrus again. Many southern states have a season into Feb with bucks only

This pic taken on 1/31 was 2 weeks affter first fight. Do you think he was wounded and do you think he survived

D

Does look like he’s hurt. ? As for surviving, I’d say probably. Some tough critters. Have butchered deer with pellets inbedded in rib healed over from previous seasons. He could have even been hit by a car and recovering?

Fred - Look at first pics on this thread. They were from 1/16. 2 weeks later he is back in same place. Also note in bottom pic that the other deer attacks him and he does not get up . The top pic shows him facing the other direction, but he still did not get up.

Wheres the big one? In the bushes behind that 3.5yr old 10 that’s laying down?

Lol, ole Salty can judge the age while they are sitting on their azz.:sunglasses:

Nice one for sure but, without an actual live vid, it’s hard to say if it was just a little sparring with no need for the dominant buck to waste his energy on…

Young buck pissed the 10 getting all his ladies:question:

That is a little odd, big boy must have liked that spot:smiley:? DoubleN could very well be right on the little one aggravating him and him not wanting to waste his time getting up.

If he’s still kicking after two weeks, I’d say he’s gonna be around for this upcoming season.

Maybe you can luck up and find his shed antlers…
