Some neighbors on the creek are discussing building a shared pier and although I haven’t mentioned it, I was considering asking if they’d consider adding another lift and splitting the costs 3 ways (however that would depend on what those costs are…)
A buddy and I were trying to guesstimate what a pier costs to build. He mentioned the permitting fees alone are pretty high and I assume another factor is how long it has to be, covered/uncovered, plumbing, electric, etc.
Any ideas on the price range for a pier that’s say, 150 feet?
Is a pier covered under a homeowners policy?

No, the pier is not covered under your regular home owners policy or your flood policy. You can insure just about anything through an excess and surplus market if you are willing to pay the premium, check with your agent. Pier cost vary from $500 to over a $1,000 per foot depending on width, type of construction and number of pilings.

Permitting fees are nothing compared to the cost of construction.
Some one is going to have to have a S.C. Marine contractors Lic. and have an Engineer obtain the permit!
