Bulk Original Trout Trick

Are the Original Trout Tricks still available in bulk?

There is a thread on here from back in 2008 where the 100ct bags were $35.
Found out Hadrells can order them for about 50 cents a piece. That’s pretty good compared to 70cents on Zmans website.

There used to be a CF discount. Hopefully Dave will come along and answer.

You can still purchase the Original TT through Z-man’s website. IDK about bulk.

I’ve got a gallon bag or two I would sell purplish color .50 each if you are interested they still have a garlic smell. they are original Bob Sanders Trout Tricks.

What is up with the shipping charge on the Z-man site. I would stick to vendors with better shipping rates. It is a great product, but unless he is shipping them diamond plated crates I cannot justify the expense.

My wife ships a lot of stuff so I have an idea as to what shipping costs are. It is unbelievable what some places charge for shipping. That often determines where I buy stuff.

We ship USPS Priority mail, and they recently upped their charges by over 25%. Flat rate costs about $7-$8 to most anywhere in the country.
If anyone knows of cheaper, with some kind of tracking, I’d like to hear about it!

Seems I have destroyed over 250 trout tricks this season.

Looking for some more.
If anyone has any they want to get rid of, let me know.
I’ll buy small batches but am looking for around 500 total.
If the price is right I’ll buy up to 2000.

If your a Z-Man dealer and looking for an easy large sale, let me know the best deal you can make.

ZMan is local, give them a call and ask. Worst they can do is say no. A lot of soft plastic companies will sell full day runs.

Another option…the TT is actually a bait that was sold several years ago by Gambler. Can’t remember what they called it, IIRC it was the Stud or Super Stud. If they still have the molds, they may sell you a days run of a color. May wind up being several thousand baits, but team up with a couple of people and it’s more manageable cost wise.

friogatto, just curious, have you tried the elaztech version of the TT? I’ve used both lots and I actually prefer the elaztech version. That being said, I don’t think Z-man got the color match just right with the original color, now called Mood Ring. The Z-man color doesn’t come alive in the water as much IMO. But I like the other colors a lot too.

Great memory pitcher.
With the help of Google…
Gambler Stud has been renamed to Gambler Shakey Shad. “Bold” seems to be the closest color. It’s also 4" instead of the 5" TT. Cost is excellent though. $6.99 for 25 pack is half what a trout trick brings.

I’d be willing to try them but hate starting over.

I have tried the 10X plastic TT. Just not the same. Floats, falls, and sits differently on the bottom. It also casts completely different. No weight to the 10x plastic so you end up throwing heavier jig heads which makes it fall to fast, especially in shallow waters. I love the durability of 10X but it’s like casting a marshmallow.

My other excuse is finding the proper jighead for 10x. Trout Eyes work for a while but after 2-3 fish the TT gets pulled down then bunches up. 10x requires a specific jighead keeper and I’m not quite ready to give up my Round Gama jigheads.

I’m waiting on a call back from Z-Man, It will determine how my next few seasons go. I might be out there throwing random stuff trying to find the next “one”. Hoping Z-Man has some good news.

Well,
Very Sad News for those who love the Trout Trick.

Talked to Z-Man. $.62 each. No price adjustments as it would compete with their dealer network.

I asked about buying a day’s run. He said all the original TT’s are Bob’s old stock and they have no intention of producing the Original Trout Trick.

So, get them while you can, when they are gone, they are gone. He estimated their stock at around 8000.

Gambler’s phone number is 954-969-1772. Give them a call, tell them what you want…they may even shoot the 5" Stud (TT)in the exact color you want. Once they set the machine up the hard work is done.

I’m with you, I don’t care for the ZMan Elaztech as much as regular soft plastics…the Elaztech is more durable, but I don’t like the weight difference.

If they’re willing to shoot a day’s run at a good price, I’ll buy several hundred of them, I’m sure you can find more takers here.

Thanks for the heads up on the fact that the originals will no longer be produced. I prefer the original myself. It seems companies always “new and improve” things when sometimes they didn’t need to be improved.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

About a year ago I made a conscious choice to fish Z-man almost exclusively. Mostly because of our partnership with them to be honest, and I also didn’t really prefer Elaztech then, either. It is harder to get on the jig for one. That being said, I can honestly say I have caught as many if not more fish on Z-Man lures. I now prefer them. Yes, you need to change your setup a bit to account for the buoyancy of the material. As for casting, I’m not sure what you mean, I have no troubles. The material has more action since its so supple and it stands up off the bottom. You can’t tell as much here in charleston with our murky water but you really see it in FL with the clear water. Plus, they are a local company and I believe in buying local. Just my 2 cents. I fish them exclusively, that’s the God’s honest truth.

I visited Palmetto Armory in Summerville. Mostly to check the new place out but they also carry Original Trout Tricks. $6.49 a bag I believe. Broke down a got a bag of Moon Ring 10x. I’ll give them another shot. Maybe my perspective can be changed.

Love the idea of Gambler making a 5". If they can get a close color without being sued by Z-Man, and it’s anywhere near their current price for the 4", were golden. Gambler TT’s would be less than half the price.

I’ll give them a call and see how they feel about it.
