Bull Red vs flipper

Caught this red in hilton head last week. About 45 inches, this pic doesn’t do the fish justice but the funny part is the dolphin waiting to take a bite.

The (**() dolphin tried to take the fish out of my hands three times while I was trying to revive it and get it back in the water.

I have never seen anything like the dolphins in the Calibogue sound. We had one last time we were down in May come up to the boat while we were fishing a small feeder creek down toward south beach. We picked up ran around buck island over just past Spanish wells. 15 minutes later the same dolphin showed back up beside the boat 7 miles from the original spot. If you have ever been there it’s the one with the tip cut off his dorsal and the 3 marks just below the tip.

Did get some pretty cool shots of the dolphin on the side imaging.

Hahaha love the first picture !

19’ Cobia bay

That is a picture I look at and come back a few minutes later - just fantastic! As an aside we all know reds scatter when dolphin are around. I had an experienced guide tell me a few years ago that when he sees them and likes the spot he throws sinkers/lead weight in the water and it seems to make them leave. Probably a wive’s tale but it makes me think.

Really cool pictures. I love the dolphin begging for the redfish and I’ve never seen dolphin show up on side scan. Cool.

As calm as u appear I can guess red wasn’t in any hurry to get back in the water

Democrat dolphin waiting for his handout. That actually is very cool. Dolphins learn about the area around them and learn from each other. Maybe one really smart one figured out that staying around a boat might mean an easy catch.

For 30 years dolphin tour boats have run out of Hilton Head, Savannah and probably other places too I don’t know about. They always fed them to draw them to the boat for the yanks. Feed them for 30 years and they get conditioned to boat=food. Feeding them became illegal a few years ago, but the dolphins don’t read the law books and they live a long time.

People definitely still feed them. I see it every time I am down.
