Fishing is still pretty good, went out on Tuesday and put my buddy on some nice fish. Fished the falling tide with cut mullet and whiting. Caught several bull reds in the Cooper and one smaller red at the jetties, largest red was at 41". All fish were tagged and released. While fishing in the Cooper, caught a fish that was peeling line off the reel. Pulled anchor and chased it down thinking it was a stingray. Pulled it up and to our surprise see a shark, around 6’ long and well over the 100lb mark. Pull it in the boat for a picture and to remove the aircraft cable of a leader that was left dangling from its mouth from a previous angler. Shark was released safely, any idea what species?

Thanks for the ID. I catch sharks but typically sharpnose, blacktip and bonnets.

Looks like a nice glassy day out there. Weekdays are always the best fishing of course. Nice reds. Even though it was a shark, thank you for removing the leader from its mouth. Should be a fun catch for someone else in the future now
Look at where Jesus went to pick people. He didn’t go to the colleges; he got guys off the fishing docks.

Yeah the wind was actually higher than expected but the land next to where we anchored helped it lay down. Luckily with my schedule, I can fish often during the week. And I would remove a leader from a whiting if I caught one haha
