Haven’t seen any posts of anyone catching bulls in several weeks and wanted to know if anyone knows if they are still around or if most have headed offshore. I have family coming in for Thanksgiving and my sisters boyfriend is a die hard hunter and fisherman but has never caught a red. I told him we could either go for numbers of juvenile or try for a bull and if lucky a couple. He said both sounded appealing so he is bringing both light and heavy gear. Figured we could spend a little time trying and if not head inshore and find some schools.
Nada for me last Thurs, FWIW
While certainly not bull red, I was on some over slot reds on the upper wando during the cold snap last week. 4 over 25" in @ 2 hours after DLT.
Cool. Didn’t want to waste the time on em if the chances were slim to none. Shouldn’t be a problem putting him on slot reds. I’ve been in trout mode lately so I’m gonna go check out some spots that were really good a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately the only day I can take him out is Thanksgiving day cause I just had a coworker walk out on us the other day. Lots of doubles while the family is in town. Probably take him out for some night time trout if he wants. Every time I send him trout pics he says “you mean weak fish”
No reds for me yesterday. Hopefully better luck this coming weekend. Happy Thanksgiving.
Was gonna scout for reds tomorrow but just picked up some Trout eyes at hadrells today. Have a feeling I won’t be able to resist.
Fished last weekend and one night after work last week. Caught around 125 reds in those three outings. All fish were caught on the ICW. They are biting everything and anything right now.
The one time I went at night was actually on the Wando. Found a school and caught an over slot red on every cast.
Coming down for the weekend with my nephews. Any suggestions to help put them on some fish. Inshore, jetties, nearshore, etc.

I’d stay inshore, trout bite is on like donkey kong. Went out today, only had a couple hours so I fished for trout. Caught about 20 all between 12 and 16" on Zmann paddlers with trout eyes. Caught my first sheepshead today too
Of course the rain stopped as soon as I got back to the landing.
Hey Red, are you using a trolling motor to cruise the banks. I did good night fishing last year at this time for reds. At high tide there always seems to be one at the first dock in Hamlin, and they are always 32-36"

What do you use when you night fish for reds?
2000 Aquasport Osprey 175 CC
3" Zmann, 1/4 oz head. Have not night fished yet this year but last year good colors were opening night, pin fish, bad shad. Goin out Saturday night for sure. Was using TT today and I couldn’t get em to the bottom. Switched to 1/4oz and immediately started hooking up
I go to areas that normally produce during the day as well. Ill cruise or pole around if necessary. I was actually using cut mullet for bait that time.
