Glad I fought the urge. We all gave it a good try this year. Maybe next year?

I deep holed the week before Super Sandy went through and killed them. There were usually two to five boats there and on a bad day I ended up with a half cooler. Two days I coolered out in less than 2.5 hours. The shrimp were very, very large. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I talked to one of the people I had met then, over this past weekend and he told me the shrimp have “left the bay”. Something you have to realize is until that week before Sandy, I had gotten a total of about a half cooler for two weeks work using bait. Right place, right time. Go figure!
We tried deep in several places North BB last weekend. 5 shrimp
Out of Buck Hall ? I would like to try deep hole once since results couldn’t be much worse than the end of this season. I will say we had better luck in Edisto this year than we did out of Buck hall for the first time ever

If you know the right spot, deep hole shrimpin is the real deal. Two folks I know were coolering out with good sized shrimp weeks before baiting season…one has a spot in BB, the other in the harbor.
It’s no guarantee as with any fishing, but to cooler out in under an hour isn’t rare…and if you get on 'em thick, it can happen in just a handful of throws.
