Went out last Saturday to shrimp Bulls Bay for the first time. It was a weekend of firsts, actually. I had never been shrimpbaiting and I had never been to Bulls Bay either. We put in a Buck Hall and eased out into the bay about 8:30 last Saturday to be met with the Spanish Armada. There were boats shrimping everywhere! So we putted along, making sure not to go through any poles and finally found an open spot and got set up. We used baitbinder and put 2 baits out per pole. 6 passes later we had about a half of a cooler. The net thrower was tired and wanted to fish, so we puled poles and went fishing. While fishing a new creek, he got bored fishing and decided to throw the net a few more times. Second cast he netted a sheepie for dinner. Went 5 lbs on the Boga.

This Saturday we went to the same spot only to find some guys already there. But they had a full-cooler and were pulling out. They let us put poles as they were pulling and told us where they had thier bait already out. Thanks guys!! 3 runs later we had 3/4 of a cooler. Again, the net thrower was tired. He was throwing my new Tim Wade, 10’ net and it’s a little heavier than he’s used to. Shrimp were mediums with some jumbos mixed in. And we had a good time on the water catching a lot of shrimp. We headed to the hill and decided to head the shrimp at the fish cleaning station. We ended up with about 16 lbs headed. 12 lbs for dinner and about 2 lbs of smaller shrimp for bait. We were covered up in jelly and jelly-balls (cannonball jellyfish). Also caught an eel in the net on one cast. While the bait soaked, we fished and he caught a nice sized shark on fresh shrimp. Didn’t take a pic of the cooler though. just some random shots throughout the day.

A Monarch butterfly visited us for a while and we enjoyed the company. Not sure if butterflys
