After a poor showing on Monday, the wife and I thought we’d try Bull’s again. She’s not a confident driver so we always one-pole. We were on the bay with 3 feet of tide and falling. We drive around looking for candles (vertical lines) on the bottom. Our deep hole spots were empty so we looked in 5 feet, allowing for the 3 feet of drop. We found a spot with lots of candles showing so I tossed an 8’ net without baiting and came up with 5 nice shrimp. We did see some skipping. We circled back, anchored into the wind (15?) and current and pinned aft in place. We let bait soak about 10 minutes and started throwing. We caught shrimp all but three casts over the next two hours until current slowed. As many as 20 mediums in one net but most commonly 5 or 6. We saw lots of boats on the water but nobody seemed to stay long. Don’t know if we had the only shrimp or the size was disappointing. We ended with 1/4 of a cooler with some large but mostly medium. I throw back smalls. Once home I weighed a mix of whole shrimp and it was 21 per pound. Pretty small for Bull’s bay but a bit encouraging. Lot’s of work but a fun day.
ICW was still tannin colored but more clear than Monday, bay was 84 degrees, muddy, choppy, windy and current was running just right. Less than sucking your net away but moving steady. Good luck.
