Bulls bay now, need throwers

Ayone from summerville/charleston care to take a ride to bulls bay to shrimp a little. I did about half a cooler yesterday evening but no one wants to come throw the net tonight. I have everything needed, just need someone to come throw. If you split bait and gas we split shrimp.

Last nights take

wish i lived in that area. i would go in a heartbeat. sadly though; i am in lexington. glad that you did well. they are still out there. do you shrimp the bay at night after dark? i have done that a couple of times but seem to always have a hard time finding my way back in. good luck

Coolbreeze are you going down this year to go shrimping? I live in Irmo and we were planning a trip until all the flooding happened

TEAM HARD OF HERRING

91 180 Sport Craft
94 Evinrude Oceanpro

That was actually Wed night’s score.

I did a little less tonight, maybe 14-18 quarts because I was by myself.

I have been twice, starting late afternoon and until about 10-11. I almost got caught on a mud flat tonight because i was over confident with this extra high tide from the moon/flooding. I am thrilled with bulls bay. A long time resident of that area showed me a spot today and also told me he mostly fishes mornings. I barely noticed a difference in the day and night result wise. In one spot it picked up when it was dark, but I think it could’ve been the wind change s well.

I can go with you this weekend if you’re going again

Um, I don’t think the DNR would agree with your methods.
You with your fishing license, Boat, and Shrimp license are allowed 48quarts.
If someone helps you obtain a limit their license is also part of the initial 48 quart limit. That means that both of you are limited out.
If you then switch boats and poles, this only gives you a fresh boat and shrimp license, but not fresh personal licenses which were already limited out.

What I am saying is your post details how you are going to illegal exceed your limit, and you posted it twice, with your phone number.
Get it together guys. The DNR reads these threads and you are encouraging people to exceed their catch limit.

i do not believe that friagatto is correct. you can have a buddy with a license also. catch a limit. put those away in the vehicle; take his poles and license and get a limit for him. never heard of having to count both parties as having a limit when you only have 48qts. jus sayin

I agree with Coolbreze!! What do you think of catching 48 quarts before 12 PM and catching 48 quarts after 12 AM ??? now lets chew on that!!

Seems like a loop hole, but may be an intentional one as it typically takes 2 people to shrimp.
I went back and read it again. Seems the bait shrimping limit is attached to the poles “48 quarts whole or 29 quarts headed per day (sunrise to sunrise) per set of poles”.
If this is the limiting factor, then I was wrong.

But, lets be honest here. If the DNR interpret what you are doing as questionable, they will do their due diligence. Seeing a boat anchored up with no one in it on the shrimping grounds is a red flag for any DNR officer and they will come see what is going on. It just really sucks to learn at the ramp.

So lets run this out.
2 boats, 2 coolers, 2 sets of licensed poles, 2 shrimpers.
Anchor boat 2, shrimper boards boat 1.
Boat 1, it’s cooler and poles, set the line, shrimp and cooler out. Pull the poles and anchor the boat. The shrimp stay in the boat along with the licensed set of poles.
Boat 1 anchors next to boat 2, the shrimpers board boat 2.
Second boat, cooler, and poles, set a new line, shrimp, and cooler out. Pull the poles. The shrimp stay in the boat along with the licensed poles. Drop off the shrimper at boat 1 and you both head back in with 48qts each.

My interpretation of what must happen to keep things on the up and up…

The only things that could be transferred between boats while on the water are the occupants and nets.
Shrimp taken on one set of poles cannot be transferred to another set while still on the water. This gives the interpretation that you exceeded the poles catch limit and are shifting overflow to another license. Example, your first set of poles is on fire. You quickly limit out but don’t want to loose the spot so instead of pulling the poles and putting out a new set, you transfer some shrimp to the other boat or switch coolers. No good. You must pull those poles once they reach the catch limit.

The first set must be pulled once you reach the catch limit (48qts).
No boat can possess more than the catch limit.
The shrimp must stay with the poles

Anyone need a thrower Saturday or Sunday . Bulls bay charleston area give me a txt 706-6647474

I coolered out last night in 3 hours or so.
