Bulls Bay

I’m headed up to Bulls Bay area on Friday, anyone fished there lately? How has it been?
I’m thinking of fishing Price’s Inlet and north side of Bull island.

If you have been, what’s the best bait used, MM, FM or shrimp?

bump…

come on, I someone has been in the area recently…

“Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.”

I have honestly only shrimped and shark fished up that way but in doing so have seen a ton of great structure and keep saying I am going to make it up there one day and check it out. Just haven’t found the time but based on what I have seen, there has to be some hot spots up there. Someone here on CF must have done some fishing up that way. Good luck if you go and let us know how you do.

Will do DF, headed up for the day tomorrow. Got my Top Spots map and a couple areas suggested to my father-in-law so we’ll see. Look for my report tomorrow night.

Thanks-

Huntnfish,

Will be anxious to hear your report because I have thought about heading up to Prices Inlet to do a bit of fishign as well. It’s only abotu 12 miles from the house.
Was thinking of putting in at Moore’s Landing and then heading down ICW to Price’s Creek and follow it down to the inlet.
Anybody have any suggestions? Is this the best/easiest way to get there???
Thanks!

master - we are going to put in at garris landing and head around both islands. I will let you know as our target will be reds and flounder.

Not sure what tide stage is your preference but, try to hit around dead low as it will do 2 things for you. It will show you where a lot of good structure is for possible fishing spots and, it will show a lot of navigation hazards. The last time I went, I put in at Garris Landing and went into the bay by way of a small creek a couple hundred yards north of Garris. It was just before low tide and it revealed a considerable oyster rake on the left side of the creek. When I came back at high tide, it was covered but lurking just under the surface. I would not have know it was there otherwise. As shallow as Bulls is, there are also some deeper holes out in the bay, found a couple at the south end, near Bulls Island. Good luck!

Thanks DF - my f-n-l has been hunting on Bull for the last 35 yrs. so he knows his way around the area boat wise but has never fished it. We are going to do our best to find some of rakes and holes!

I posted this in the report but wanted to place here. These guys were caught in the cast net - AT THE SAME TIME - while we were looking for bait. Both lived to catch bait another day…

Always a surprise what comes up in the cast net!

Bears repeating - good job on letting the reds go. Not only is it good for the fishery, its also DNR regulation to release gamefish caught in a net like that =)

Glad you had a good day on the water!

That’s cool, mhebbard is right, you never know what you’ll pull up in a cast net. We pulled in a blow fish a couple of weeks ago.

case in point, i caught the worlds weeniest trout in one last august

released to fight another day year
