I’ve got a buddy that has an OX66 Yamaha 225 that has a burnt #2 piston. He bought a 250 and is selling the 225. He didn’t want to mess with the rebuild. The other pistons are fine and have good compression. How much crap would it be to fix it? It sure would be a good boost for my 21’ Well craft. My boat is powered by a Johnson ocean pro 60 degree 150hp. It actually powers the boat well but the added power would be a big help in a following sea. I’d have to buy all the crap to go with it - shifter, cables, gauges, and such. ??? Don’t know if it would be worth it. Also don’t know the fuel consumption. I only have a 75 - 80 gallon tank. The Yamaha fuel injection may be better than my 6 carburetors now. Any thoughts?

Your fuel burn will make you cry. Hull truth has addressed that question.

Yeah, probably right. I’d probably have no range. Didn’t know if the fuel injection (even on the larger motor) would be close to what I’m getting with 6 carbs.

On my 23’ cc with bracket 250 OX66 gets 2nm/gal
My 222 Grady White got a tad better than 2 mpg. It was the best motor I have owned to date and I’m pretty sure I’ve had a little bit of just about everything. Strong as hell.
That johnrude is a (**() guzzler too.
All that said I wouldn’t go rebuilding one to replace a good running motor.
If I was pulling it apart I would rebuild all of them not just the bad one.

I just don’t know if it’d be worthwhile. Rebuilt other motors but never an outboard motor. I have no clue how much money it’d run up to. May be cheaper just to buy another motor. Or, just leave my ride alone. The only reason my interest was sparked was because of the deal/price.
