I took my son fishing this morning. I figured it would be tough with the rain and the shift in pressure, but we did manage four catfish in our favorite spot. The topwater bite was completely shut down, and mud minnows under corks didn’t get touched, except for a few crabs. Mud minnows on Carolina rigs got eaten pretty well by the cats. My son doesn’t care what we catch yet, and catfish are big, fun fish for him to catch . We fished from high tide almost to low tide. Right in the middle of outgoing was when the cats came biting hot and heavy.
My son is getting better and better with every trip we go on. There was no whining at all today, and when we got a bite, he got more excited than ever. I’m pretty proud of him.
I didn’t pay attention to the water temperature, but the water was a little cloudy. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be or as bad as it was all summer.

We ended the day Saturday with a few bluefish and a mess of spots. Tossed back two rat reds. Caught 3 of those endangered black sea bass in 4 foot deep water near Breech.
“Sire, it belongs in truth to the Church of God, in whose name I speak, to endure blows and not to inflict them. But it will also please your Majesty to remember that she is an anvil that has worn out many hammers.”…Theodore Beza
I dont think so we stayed near the subs all day from 1 to 5
We went north and were back at the landing around noon, I think.
I like fishing early and leaving when the crowds really show up. It’s amazingly calm and quiet out there right before sunrise. I always get a good parking spot too.
