Bushy Park 11/03

I took my brother fishing this morning. We were pretty excited to see the solar eclipse, and so were a bunch of people at the landing. There were quite a few people out there taking pictures and observing it. The pictures I took with my phone didn’t come out well at all, but it was really neat to see.

We started off with some topwater and I hooked up with a beast! 30" and 10 1/2 lbs! Woo-wee was that fun! It was drumming like crazy when I got him out of the water. My brother had never heard one drumming before, so that was cool to show him. Hopefully nobody figures out the secret spot where I caught him.

We tried another spot out in the river for a topwater bite, but it shut down once the tide peaked. We ran to another spot and worked some paddlers on 1/4 oz jigheads. We got a lot of short strikes.

I realized by 9 o’clock that it was going to be a run-and-gun kind of day. We spent a lot of time running from spot to spot looking for clearer water and shelter from the gusty wind. I hit more creeks today than I ever have, and it was a LOT of fun with my “baby” brother.

The big redfish and an undersized trout was what I ended the day with. My brother landed two redfish, one trout, and one bluefish. He had a blast, and I did too.

The water was cloudier today in more places than it was yesterday. I didn’t pay attention to the water temperature again.

I really enjoy your posts.

Woo-wee is right

So I was looking at my pictures again and noticed a reflection or something in a couple of them. You can see a tiny spot where the eclipse is upside down, but that’s it. If you zoom in and look closely, you can see the moon blocking part of the sun. Pretty neat!

It looked a lot cooler in person, and I had to keep stopping myself from looking at it. :face_with_head_bandage:
