Bushy Park 2/18

I went out by myself for a few hours this morning in Yellow House Creek. I got to the ramp right as the sun was coming up. Man was it cold! My pop-up cleats were frozen in the down position, so I had to splash some saltwater on them to unfreeze them. I got to the spot and anchored in some shallow water with reds swimming all around. I tried frozen shrimp, mud minnows, and even a trick worm to no avail. At about 10 all the action moved back up into the creeks and it was time for me to go home. It was a beautiful morning and it was nice to watch the sun coming up.
I’ll be back out on the water with my brother on Wednesday. I’m might try a new spot. Wherever I go, I will be taking some live shrimp along.

At least you were able to get out there, Hoof. I guess that’s why they call it fishing…

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Guess it’s kind of a no-brainer, but this time of year, when the water is coldest (even though it’s not so cold this year), you can often do better around mid day when the shallows have had a chance to warm up a bit.
