I went fishing with a friend today. We started with some topwater, and that bite was better today. We started up on a flat that was dropping pretty quickly. It didn’t matter where we threw. I threw at the grass and caught a trout. I threw out in the open water and caught a red. They were in a biting mood.
Once the water got too low, we moved to another spot. By the time we got to the next spot, the topwater bite had turned off, so I threw my cracking bobber with a gulp shrimp underneath it. I caught a couple more trout and ran into a friend. We chatted for a minute, and he informed me that he was coming out of the creek because he hadn’t got a bite. Well I rounded the corner and tossed my line up next to some grass in a shallow spot and caught a nice flounder. (That completed my first inshore slam.)
We trolled up a little further, and my buddy hooks up with a real doormat! We caught a few more trout and called it a day. I have some beautiful flounder to fry up tomorrow night!
The water clarity is getting really great for sight fishing. If your not fishing the next few weeks, you’re making a mistake. The bite is HOT right now!
