I went fishing with my buddy and my middle brother yesterday. There wasn’t a whole lot of tide, but the water was moving alright during the top half of incoming. We went to the first spot to check my minnow trap and see if anybody was home in the creek. There was nothing but a crawfish in my minnow trap, and nothing was biting in that creek.
We went back out to the main river and fished a big bend that has some structure in it. It was gar city. We played with them and caught a couple big ones. Dealing with those teeth got old after a while, so we decided to make one last drift along the bank before heading to another spot. Well my tiller handle on the trolling motor decided it had had enough and broke. It was stuck in the full reverse position. So I disconnected it at the battery and we headed to the next spot.
At the next spot we had to anchor up. That really sucked, but we did manage a few undersized trout and reds. My buddy got a nice keeper flounder for supper tonight on a live mullet on a jighead on the bottom. Ended the day with a beautiful Lowcountry sunset.
Water temp was about 71 degrees. Bait was still thick everywhere!
