Got a very early start this morning with quite a few reds
Starting hitting right at dusk. It’s hard getting Reds out of structure with a fast out going tide. Placed in the live well until ready to release.
Then another and by the time I put this in the live well to recover hit another. Pulled hook on a few in some heavy structure and all caught in Bushy. Back home at 10:30am.
Beautiful weather but fast & rugged out going tide.

Good on you for making sure the fish are healthy before releasing, but just curious how that would work out if you were to get checked by DNR with oversized fish on the boat?
I’ve thought about doing the same as I only use mono and lighter test than most so I’ve considered throwing them in my aerated tank for a while before releasing, but worried about being checked with oversized fish in possession.
he knows the regs. we could learn a few things from kobp.
i remember the salt n pepper texas rig from 2011. he doesn’t give that one up any more.
-wishes Macdaddy would come home
Peapod, I was simply asking a question, since like I said above, I have thought of doing this myself for fish that seem particularly stressed.
Anyway, it’s a mute point now. After thinking about it, for the short time I would need to leave them in the tank and the few number of fish I catch, it won’t matter either way.
You guys are Spectacular!!
Striperskiff, Those were not oversize and no issues with DNR in this situation. I only put an oversize in my live well briefly because of DNR. I tag them quickly, take a shot, then in the water, DNR maybe understanding but I like my boat too much to even try putting out of slot fish on board other than BRIEFLY. Oversize I revive with the Boga/float attached and back at it again!
Bait of choice: Shad swim bait dipped in chartreuse and been hitting a few on MM as if it’s a swim bait. This time of year I run behind Trouts/Flounders but Reds are released unless I’m getting a meal

Sorry, fatrat, bad assumption on my part.
Now that you put it that way though, you convinced me to give up on the idea of reviving any over slot in my tank. I kinda like my boat too.
