I am finally getting a little time to fish & was wondering if any one knew any places close to bushy Park to pickup mud minnows or shrimp? I used always swing by Duncan’s lil gas station and grab mud minnows but, last I heard they quit selling them . With my new depth finder it should be a little easier to find bait with cast net but, sometimes it’s nice to have a couple dozen mudminnows for backup. Thank you.
Pic for attention lol
Nice fish. wish i could help but i don’t go up that way.
Minnow trap in small feeder creeks by oyster beds
I appreciate the replies. There aren’t many oyster beds up and bushy Park area but there’s plenty of creeks. I’ll definitely invest in a minnow trap, what do y’all put in it to attract them.
Also, I caught my first tagged redfish yesterday & I have the numbers off the tag, how do you all report those?
There is a telephone number on the tag for you to call and report
Congratulations
Probably get a nice hat or shirt
Try Phantom or Blackwells hardware to buy mud minnows
Every time I go fishing
The tide is not right for catching mud minnows
If I leave the trap out
A gator chomps it or a thief gets it
A blue crab with the back pulled off is the best bait
But I’ve had good luck with fatback
There’s plenty of muddies right at the landing, and everywhere else. Vienna sausage, hot dogs, sardines. They aren’t too picky.
Thank you, & I release most fish & reported the tag!
Appreciate it, I’ll check with Phantom
Try the ACE hardware. They may have bait. I don’t use bait but I heard they took over when Duncans closed. Worth a try.
Here is where you submit your tag recapture

I appreciate it! I submitted it, pretty easy. I’ll throw a top water most of the year & all day pretty much but, eventually it gets to cold for them to be willing to come after it. I just need to find a good jig/grub to build confidence in, especially once it gets cold.
Those trout like to hit a suspending bait for me when it gets a little colder and they get sluggish not wanting to come to the surface.
Yes, like @Optiker, and others have said, low and slow. Like bbq. ![]()
Patience, and perseverance pays off.
I’ll definitely start posting more results this year as I get more time to fish more & to learn the cooper more. I do pretty good in wando but such a drive from Summerville/Knightsville area & so many people. I was very happy when bushy park was dredged. I try to pay attention to fatrat he seems to have cooper figured out. Lol
Just follow Fatrat around and you’ll find some great spots!!
Anytime you see old guys in old boats pay attention. Really
sman is who I’d guide scout, lol
