Bushy Park & Berkeley Cty.

Uh oh

Tug, not again please.

The primary factor in silting was the reduction of flow by 75% to the re-diversion canal in '84, '85. I’m sure the water is always clean behind your vessel. Happy now?

I’m not the only one that has watched silt roll in the Bushy Park when that McKee craft pushing that steel loaded pontoon boat up river, rounded that bend.

Optiker,

You may remember when that idea for putting a ramp at the Marina was purposed a bunch of years ago. State Ports and the Gas terminal’s opposed it due to increased traffic dangers and it quietly went away.

Think this will change anything with the old ramp?

Thanks, I had not seen that yet. I wasn’t even aware there was a Bushy Park management authority. It’s on the Cooper river, which is a navigable waterway. How can they stop it unless the sale of property was refused?
I’ll do some checking, but (**(). That is just stupid.

hobbz,

I just looked up the scope of BP authority and it applies to the fresh water side only for fresh water intake. I don’t see how that can affect a ramp on the Cooper river. I’ll look into it more.

No change. Bummer dude. Not much fish anyway with all the tugs silting up the place.

I believe the sale was turned down by Cooper River Partner’s which owns the property. They were purchased by Milliken in 2012. No longer a local entity. County might try to negotiate a tax break for sale or lease of the property. They own 1600 acres there so I expect their tax bill is pretty high.

Per the P&C today the owners of the property want to build their HQ on that site - at some nebulous time in the future - that they called the most desirable in Bushy Park area. Hope they enjoy the view of the stranded boaters from their offices.

What I found interesting, was that they had no knowledge of the project until 2018 and were surprised by it? But they are refunding monies that the County spent on their planning studies!!??

Something doesn’t pass the smell test. I don’t see Pacolet Milliken building a Headquarters there.

Something definitely doesn’t pass the smell test

I don’t see where a Headquarters would go.

If they took the acreage close to the road, why not build a bridge over the marsh and bypass that area. Land developers do it all the the time.
