Went out Saturday mid-morning at low tide to get a look at the creeks when they are near empty, gained a lot of knowledge from this and one really nice 22 inch Red along the way. Found him in a deeper pocket of water pushing bait around. once the tide starting coming back in I moved to the creek mouths and switched to a flounder rig hoping to add some flatties to the day. Felt a tug and a hard pull and thought I had hooked a good size fish till I couldn’t get it to come off the bottom, boy was I surprised when 3+ foot of alligator tail came out of the water and smacked my yak! he then dove and broke off my line. Needless to say I left that creek in a hurry and moved on to others. All in all a good day, caught three reds, one was keeper and a big ole’ gator! I have put in at bushy park now about a dozen times at high tide, low tide, rising and falling tides in search of Reds primarily and finally the work has begun pay off with a multi Red day.
Most guys say they don’t catch fish in Bushy Park and like you one has to work for the pay off in Bushy. Nice read and good hook up with the reds that is!

@ FatRat357 - I caught that gator just inside one of your “more popular” creeks where you had seen me the week prior. I also pulled that red from there but I was way up in it, water so skinny I scrapped that bottom in my yak several times just getting back there.

Nice report. Bushy will make you work for it but can pay off big sometimes.
The gator thing is funny, I’m sure everything was nice and calm in the Kayak as he tail slapped you.
Oh it was perfectly calm… Right up to moment the tail came out of the water and slapped the side of my yak!! Then it was all about survival!!
