Bushy Park... same old story

They are still cleaning up and it looks like that will be a while, but 2 of 4 lanes are open

Thanks , I was afraid to put in because of the equipment that was still there.
I went Thursday out of CG during the middle of the day.Caught one red and called it a day.
How were they biting Saturday?

Sorry for the lack of updates boys, been seriously under the weather for almost a week now. 2 negative rona tests but have not been feeling well, at all. Hopefully on the mend now.

Stumpknocker take care of yourself. Lots of stuff going around now. I’m really glad Bushy Park is open. Come summer it will make a big difference. Right now I focus on afternoon tides but come summer I just want to be able to get on and off the water before it gets too hot

Stump, I’m still getting over that crap. Hope yours isn’t as bad as mine was. Best wishes, see you on the waters soon I hope

Get well soon Stump.

Hope you’re feeling better Stump. I drove by today, gave me the itch to splash the boat. Just added a hydraulic steering system, and I’m looking forward to using it! See y’all out there soon!

you’ll like the hydraulic steering. I have it on my boat and the feel is solid and consistent with no play like you feel with rack & pinion

I was talking to a guy from N. Charleston, last week, about the dredging at Bushy Park. He said his family are Waters, if I recall correctly. And his grandfather had owned 24 acres, where the Wal-Mart is, on Rivers Ave. and Ashley Phosphate.

He seemed quite familiar with the project, and told me this.

He said that they can only dredge so much, before the dredging changes the salt water/fresh water line, and allows too much fresh water downstream, changing the ecosystem?

Whether it’s a fact or not, I don’t know? But I’m not sure why he’d go to such lengths to tell me some b.s.?

Haven’t hear that one. Strange. Seems like the only way that could/would happen is if they tunneled Bushy Park Rd. and let the water flow that way with the tide. All they did was move some pluff mud. Maybe barb can chime in on it soon.

Also, thanks for the well wishes fellas, feeling much better now. :muscle:

Strange indeed!

Just passing what I heard along…

Big dredge projects can move enough material that the saltwater intrudes farther upstream into the new greater volume of the water body since there is a static/natural amount of freshwater input that won’t increase

I’m no engineer, but this case seems like a very small scale project compared to full harbor channel deepening stuff

So you’re telling us it is a ‘thing’. Got it. Thanks for the quick getback

A few years ago I sat in on a presentation about the (now completed) Post 45 Harbor Dredging project. The ACOE expected that brackish water would push something like a couple miles further upriver after completion. I would concur, as I’m now catching trout where I never have before (incl. one really good one @ 23", released of course).

There is no way that the Bushy Park dredging would alter the freshwater downstream. As Stump said, it’s not fed by the freshwater side. I personally think that would solve the issue of it filling back up, but…(shrug)

The amount of water that is released in Moncks Corner (Tailrace canal) determines the freshwater/saltwater dividing line.
Dredging at BP will not affect it.

The office trailer and generator that were taking up handicap parking are officially gone this week.

Bushy Park is back in service, people, enjoy!

Thanks Stump
I was there Monday and it was kinda nice not to have to worry about the tide
Caught one nice Arkansas blue on a Z Man but the reds are still eluding me
Hopefully it doesn’t turn into the chit show like that YouTube guy in Miami.haha

Someone left a perfectly good boat trailer at BP yesterday.

Dang
Only 19
Mullets are everywhere
Still can’t find a spot tail
The trailer is still there yesterday evening
They should have left a FREE sign on it if they weren’t coming back.
